History

Sandalwood Management was founded in 1985 in Austin, Texas, and acquired by current owner Joel Ospovat in 1988. Initially focused on managing residential units, the firm and its young and energetic management team quickly began diversifying, expanding operations to 14 states and growing career property management to 30,000 residential units and 10 million square feet of feet of commercial and industrial real estate space.

Sandalwood Management entered the Canadian market in 2000, seizing an attractive opportunity to acquire 13 shopping malls across Quebec. Now nearly 10 years later, Sandalwood Management owns and manages 80+ properties across North America, encompassing 6 million square feet of retail and office and 4,000+ multi-family units.

Over the last 20 years, Sandalwood Management has built a solid reputation as a buyer, lessor, and manager of commercial and residential properties, historically targeting double digit cash on cash returns for its investors. That reputation, combined with the support of several private and public investors, has been the driving force behind the firm’s relentless growth, and the reason why it is among today’s real estate leaders in both the U.S. and Canada.
